Power Distribution

Reliable and redundant power delivery for your IT equipment

Redundant Power

Docklands Data Centre operates an N+1 redundancy level for all power distribution – with redundant feeds directly to the racks, redundant UPS systems and redundant Caterpillar diesel generators. Rest assured that we take power delivery incredibly seriously to ensure that your systems remain online at all times, even when things go wrong. Our building runs with a target PUE of 1.8.

DDCL's Standard Power Policy

Power Allocation
Up to 7kW Per Cabinet

Cabinet Power Feed
Dual 16A or Dual 32A Feeds (A+B)

Intelligent Monitoring
Included as standard; SNMP reporting to DDCL NOC for power draw, min/max voltage, limit alarms.

Dual UPS Schemes

Rotary UPS

We utilise a rotary UPS as one of our two core schemes; operating with 98% efficiency, it can protect twice the power load in half of the footprint of a battery system and is considerably less complex to maintain with a simple and predictable operation. This platform comprises 3x 250kVA modules in an N+1 configuration.

Battery UPS

Tried and tested, dependable and reliable, we still leverage battery UPS systems for our core protection. Currently deployed in an N+1 configuration, our UPS platform is formed of 2x 400kVA modules.

Multi-Phase Power Redundancy

When things go wrong, they often go very wrong. When our UPS platforms are required to kick in, there’s a strong possibility that there won’t be a momentary blip in connection from the grid. We have deployed multiple phases for power backup in the event of a catastrophic outage.

Phase 1

Modular M&E infrastructure; delivering 1MVA through 2x Caterpillar 3512B 1500KVa Prime Rated generators.

Phase 2

Additional plant to support the second data hall, adding N+1 to all racks.

Each of our two generators has a 500-litre onboard tank linked to the underground bulk fuel store with 27,000 litres of reserve fuel. Connecting back to the Caterpillar service department for 24/7 remote alarm and service monitoring, these regularly maintained and tested systems protect your infrastructure should the nearby grid fail.
